Students will be called upon to write about their life experiences and then read their essays aloud. In addition, pragmatic life skills—like talking to a landlord, reading utility bills and filling out medical data forms—will be addressed.
Course Goal: Students will develop their competence in constructing meaning from dialogues illustrative of various intermediate verb tenses.
Course Objective: Students will practice performing and creating dialogues containing target grammatical structures. In addition, they will complete writing assignments designed to provide an opportunity for students to use in original composition the grammar they have just learned.
Student Learning Outcome: Students will be able to communicate orally in many situations, employing intermediate verb tenses and vocabulary and will be able to express their ideas in written form in the said manner.
Intermediate 101
Course Description: This course is designed for intermediate ESL students. It reviews and expands upon basic verb constructions through dialogue performance and creation. The class will be introduced to important topics in U.S. civics, such as America’s Founding Fathers, the Civil Rights Movement, and the Constitution. In addition, pragmatic life skills--like workplace communication, filling out job applications and checking in at a hospital—will be addressed.
Course Goal: Students will develop their competence in constructing meaning from dialogues illustrative of various intermediate verb tenses.
