American Culture B 

Course Description:   This course is designed for advanced ESL students. It explores many aspects of American culture using a values approach for discussion and reading.  Students will be called upon to discuss their own cultures as to how the are the same as or are different from American culture. They will also develop their vocabulary using the context of the reading selections.


Course Goal: Students will develop their competence in understanding the cultural values of the United States, their own country, and others. 
                       
Course Objective:  Students will practice interesting cross-cultural activities for small group and class discussion and delve into fascination cultural topics for oral presentations, research, and writing projects.

Student Learning Outcome:  Students will be able to better understand and function in the American culture as foreign students or businesspeople, visiting scholars or government officials.
