Course Description: This course is designed for advanced ESL students. It reviews and expands upon major structures using a grammar-based approach integrated with communicative methodologies to promote the development of all language skills in a variety of ways. Students will engage in meaningful communication about real actions, real things, and their own lives. Students will be called upon to interact in with each other in pairs, trios, and small groups in order to share their experiences, express their opinions, and relate the target grammar to their personal lives.
Course Goal: Students will develop their competence in the use of advanced grammar and precise English expressions.
Course Objective: Students will practice reading a wide selection of carefully crafted readings that focus on the target grammar structure. They will also practice listening to the spoken language in a variety of settings that range from everyday conversations to the academic content of classroom lectures.
Student Learning Outcome: Students will be able to understand sophisticated, nuanced English and will be able to express themselves orally and in writing using same.
